JSA of LIS Event Management Workshop 2016
The JSA of LIS Event Management Workshop, on May 18 at Larchmont Yacht Club, will provide the tools and knowledge to help make junior sailing events successful and memorable.
• Organizing and running the regatta: Regattas don’t just happen, they require months of planning and organizing. Learn what it takes to make Larchmont Junior Race Week successful. Members of the LYC junior regatta organizing committee will share their experiences and lessons learned about running one of the largest junior sailing events on Long Island Sound. They include Cynthia Parthemos, principal race officer, and Sheelagh Thompson, event co-chair.
• Use digital media to enhance the regatta experience: Today, the use and accessibility of digital phones, tablets and the various media platforms, is pushing us to utilize more than just a website and email to communicate information and results of regattas, as well as other types of info important to your program. Gregg Clark, chair of the 2015 JSA Optimist Champs regatta at Riverside YC, will share his experience in developing a very successful multimedia program that was a big hit at that event. He will discuss what platforms work and how you can use them. This is a great opportunity to ask those social media questions you never got answers to.
• Team racing continues to grow in popularity: Whether you want to learn how to introduce team racing to your program or run a team racing regatta, Nick Martin, sailing director for Larchmont YC and coach of the Mamaroneck High School sailing team, will be on hand to facilitate a discussion on team racing.
Join us on May 18, at Larchmont YC, 7 – 9 pm.
