Five surveys provide post-summer information to finalize your program roster on which annual JSA membership dues are based, provide staff salary and program activity information that will be summarized and shared among respondents, and offer feedback about TheClubspot.com system that supports the JSA Roster and Regatta Registration services. Please ask an appropriate person at your program to respond to each survey by mid-September:
Program Roster Survey: provide your final program roster that will be used to update JSA’s mailing list and also help calculate the amount of JSA dues remaining for families and instructors (takes about 5 minutes to respond).
Program Staff and Salary Survey: provide information about hiring practices and salaries paid to your junior program staff during this summer (takes about 10 minutes to respond).
Program Activity Survey: provide information including curriculum and organization, with counts of boat types used by sailors (takes about 20 minutes to respond).
Surveys from TheClubspot.com: select one or both, depending on your roles (each takes about 10 minutes to respond.
Post your program’s openings on the JSA Job Bank page and other national sites.
Instructor Certification: encourage 16- and 17-year-old juniors at your club who wish to become sailing instructors in a future year to register for the Level 1 Smallboat Instructor online and in-person certification courses, as well as a Safe Powerboat Handling certification course. These courses may be viewed on the certification calendar.
Schedule a US Sailing instructor training course hosted at your organization to provide instructor candidates from your community the ability to learn and get certified near their home.
If your organization is planning after-summer events that are open to all juniors, like clinics, after-school programs, or regattas, please email the JSA office so those events may be listed through the JSA calendar.
Make Your Nomination for the JSA of LIS Special Awards: Annually the JSA of LIS awards several special trophies that celebrate people and programs that are strong role models among the JSA member junior sailing programs. The JSA special awards are the Brooke Gonzalez, Susie Trotman and Mitchell Weeks trophies for personal excellence, plus the Mary von Conta Award for quality and safety enhancements at a JSA member program. Special award nominations for the 2024 season that were received by August 31, 2024, will be reviewed by the JSA during September and the awards will be presented at JSA’s Annual General Meeting in mid-October.
