JSA of LIS Summer 2022 Media Editor
Hello all, my name is Megan Cahill-Assenza and I am the JSA Media Editor this summer. I will manage the JSA of LIS website (www.jsalis.org) and social media platforms such as Instagram, Facebook, Twitter and TikTok (@JSAofLIS is the profile name).
I’d like to highlight and feature events and activities from each of your member sailing programs in the JSA to help grow our sailing community and make connections with one another. In order to work together, please connect with me to share your junior sailing program activities. Send your pictures, videos, and news/ideas for written content to me at news@jsalis.org. I look forward to creating a community with all of you!
I am excited to offer my multimedia skills to the JSA of LIS. During my career, I have practiced outreach and community building by telling stories using a variety of media, such as writing, film, photography and podcasting. I earned my bachelor’s degree in English and Writing from Stony Brook University and two graduate certificates in Children’s Literature and Audio Podcasting.
I live on Long Island in Northport. Although I did not grow up in the sailing world, I have sailed with my uncle around Narragansett Bay when vacationing in Rhode Island. I learned about sailing from him and believe sailboats are so much more enjoyable than motor boats! Learning about the JSA of LIS has made me wish I sailed during my youth!
