Area B Qualifier for the 2016 U.S. Chubb Junior Championships

American Yacht Club is hosting this year’s US Sailing Area B Qualifier for the single and double handed classes, July 16-17th.  The singlehanded boat sailed in this event is the Laser Radial, and the doublehanded boat is the Club 420.  The top two finishers in each class will qualify to compete in US Sailing’s 2016 Chubb U.S. Junior Championships for the doublehanded Bemis Trophy and singlehanded Smythe Trophy which will be held August 11th – 15th at Mission Bay Yacht Club in San Diego, CA. (Note: the Area B qualifier for the triplehanded Sears Cup will be held at Cedar Point YC on July 29 in Lightning).

This regatta series had its origins in 1921, a mere 95 years ago, when boys wore caps, jackets and ties, and girls wore dresses when they sailed!  The U.S. Junior Championships are ladder events in which eliminations are open to the 1000+ yacht clubs and 150+ community sailing programs within the 11 areas that today comprise US Sailing.

Come participate in this historic regatta series and sail against some very talented sailors from US Sailing Area B, which includes most of New York, all of Connecticut and the Virgin Islands. Registration may be made by completing the online forms at  http://www.regattanetwork.com/event/12888Regular registration closes on July 13th, after that date, a late fee applies.
