A variety of junior sailing programming is available in western Long Island Sound during late summer and fall 2026. LYC’s Fall Program provides opportunities for sailors at all levels who want to continue sailing after the summer. The program includes: High school sailing, Intro to RS Feva team racing, Sonar keelboat racing, and ILCA racing.

Youth Sailing at The WaterFront Center welcomes sailors of all experience levels—from complete beginners to advanced racers. Programs include Optimist Sailing, Opti Race Team, Adventure Sailing, Jr Keelboat Sailing, Jr. Big Boat Race Team, and High School Sailing .

Descrip: American Yacht Club, 499 Stuyvesant Ave, Rye, NY
American Yacht Club’s Fall After-School Sailing Program welcomes sailors of all abilities for a combination of skill development, structured training, and racing in Club 420s, Optimists, Fevas, Hobie Waves, Ideal 18s, and J/105s. Most newer sailors practice two or three days per week and may participate in multiple fleets. Non-members interested in joining should contact Kevin Broome, Sailing Director, to inquire about availability and secure a spot. And AYC’s winter sailing program for ILCAs continues from November through April on Sundays, with morning clinics and afternoon racing opportunities.

The Annual Fall Series of races begins mid-September until late-October. Sailors from all over the tri-state area have raced together for over 27 years. Sailors launch from the Dinghy Shop’s private beach in Amityville and race on the Great South Bay. Family and friends can watch the racing from the comfort of a waterfront pad complete with picnic tables, tent, and facilities.
