The JSA Head Instructor Workshop at Beach Point Club 08:30 – 13:00 on Thursday June 6 continues the in-person format to enhance the exchange of ideas, head instructors and junior program directors are invited to attend this workshop designed specifically for them. Program chairs are also welcome, along with those on the path to becoming a head instructor or program director. Continental breakfast and snacks are included in the $30 pp advance paid fee ($40 at the door).

Experts at the workshop include Chris Foley, Indian Harbor YC Sailing Director; Lawrence McGrath, Stamford YC Sailing Director; Madison Shields, Port Washington YC Director of Junior Sailing; Tate Theodorsen, Cedar Point YC Head Sailing Instructor; Jeff Engborg, Pequot Yacht Club General Manager; and Jeff Bresnahan, Shelter Island YC Sailing Director and Connecticut College Head Sailing Coach.

Highlights of the workshop:
+ Panel Discussion: Lawrence McGrath, Chris Foley, Madison Shields and Tate Theodorsen will engage in a discussion about “Top things a head instructor should think about as the summer junior sailing season is about to start.”
+ Yacht Club Strategic Synergy Starts With You: Jeff Engborg will discuss how the junior program has become an integral part of the whole team at Pequot Yacht Club.
+ The Most Important Things to Accomplish During Prep Week: Jeff Bresnahan will discuss how a good setup will get you through the first half of the summer.
+ At the close of the workshop, attendees will break out into groups of neighboring clubs / organizations to discuss strategies and tactics that will help make for a better and more smoothly run program.

Please also ask your staff to submit beforehand via this short Google form their examples of “Best Ideas and Tools for Instructors” that may be discussed with other participants during the workshop. A compilation of their submissions will be distributed after the meeting.
