US Junior Sailing Championships Area B Qualifier

Cam Cullman’s quest to win the 2005 US Junior Singlehanded Championship, began with the Law Trophy regatta at Indian Harbor YC, continued at the Area B qualifier at Orient YC, and ended as he won at Newport Harbor YC in California.

This was the first time a JSA of LIS sailor won the Smythe Trophy since its inception in 1974.

To compete at the U.S. Junior Sailing Championship in Massachusetts this August, the Area B Qualifier will be held in Bay Shore, NY, on Great South Bay, July 17.

At the Area B event, the singlehanded Laser Radial and doublehanded Club 420 boats will be open to junior US Sailing Association members. JSA recommends single- and doublehanded sailors register by July 10 at the event website.

The triplehanded Flying Scot boat will be event host supplied and assigned to one team from each regional sailing association. Team selection for the YRALIS region will be at the JSA Sears Cup event in Oyster Bay, NY at the WaterFront Center on July 10.
