DESCRIPTION: A combination of online and in-person class to earn American Red Cross (ARC) First Aid/CPR/AED certification. 

Participants must complete the online portion before attending the in-person class. A link will be provided after registration.

We’re excited to announce the Virtual College Sailing Forum hosted by SUNY Maritime College will be happening Saturday, December 14th at 6pm ET and are looking forward to seeing you all again to talk about college sailing, recruitment, and how to get in touch with college sailing teams from around the country!

It was great to have over 150 high school aged sailors join us virtually last year with over a dozen top sailing colleges represented from almost every conference in the Inter-Collegiate Sailing Association (ICSA) from around the country. We look forward to seeing many of you come back and helping answer all your questions at this year’s College Sailing Forum.

Who: Open to all High School-aged Sailors, Parents, and High School/Junior Sailing Coaches interested in becoming/supporting College Sailing Athletes

When: Saturday, December 14th at 6pm ET

Where: Virtually via Zoom to support sailors and teams joining us from all around the country!

Basic Race Management Seminar - Oakcliff


Basic Race Management Seminar is for people who have some Race Committee (RC) experience, but newcomers are also welcome. Topics include RC objectives and responsibilities, regatta safety, writing sailing instructions, RC jobs, equipment, setting the course, starting system, starting penalties, before the start, during the race, finishing and scoring.

The in-person session at Oakcliff Sailing, Oyster Bay, NY, is a one day course on 12/15/2024 from 8:00 am to 5:00 pm

Level 3 Sailing Program Management Course - online ten days

For the ten-day course starting January 10, the instructor is Jane Millman, US Sailing National Faculty. Jane works as the Executive Director at Brendan Sailing and was a former Director of Basic Sail Training at United States Naval Academy.

The US Sailing Small Boat Level 3 Head Instructor Certification Course, is designed to support sailing instructors and program managers who are either making the transition to a leadership role in their programs or growing their management skills in their current role. This course is also available for parents and volunteers who want to better manage their sailing programs but do not want or need to receive a certification.

This course contains information on how to manage more effectively, problem solve, continue to create a quality learning environment for their students and sailing staff, and where to find additional resources. Topics covered in the course include: classroom and on-the-water teaching techniques, risk management, safety issues, curriculum planning, advanced team building techniques, ethical concerns, and much more. 

The online course is spread over ten days. The course consists of five 40-minute live webinars and includes short presentations. The other days are self-paced and consist of video content, group discussion and posts, assignments, quizzes and a final test. Students should expect to spend 20 hours on course work over the ten days.

US Sailing Leadership Forum - California 4 days

The Sailing Leadership Forum runs four days starting February 5 through February 8. 

Participants include instructors, coaches, race officials, program directors, class/fleet leaders, yacht club management, organization leaders, and volunteers who will find key takeaways from this event. The presentations focus on participation and growth in sailing, best practices in operations and management, what’s new in technology and innovation related to sailing, safety education and instruction, takeaways for all types of sailors, and creative thinking and new approaches to modern challenges in the sport. 

Leaders from sail training and education, yacht club and sailing organization management, race officials, and industry professionals will meet and learn from one-another. The Forum will offer keynote speaker presentations and focused group sessions on a wide range of topics such as Growing the Sport, Developing Programs, Marketing & Communications, Administration & Management, Regattas & Racing, and Rules & Officials. The Sailing Leadership Forum will feature lively and fun social events, hands-on activities, exhibitor displays and demonstrations, pre- and post- forum clinics and seminars for instructor certification, race management seminars, Safety at Sea Seminars, and much more.
