Head Instructor and Sailing InstructorSagamore Junior Sailing, Oyster Bay NYThe Sagamore Junior Sailing Program is accepting applications for Head Sailing Instructor and a Sailing Instructor. The Head Instructor key responsibilities include: maintain a safe, competitive and fun environment for all sailors, supervising sailing instructors and assist the Program Manager in parent communication and regatta management. The Sailing Instructor needs to be friendly, energetic and responsible while coaching 8–16 year-old sailors on the fundamentals of boat rigging and sailing in our fleet of Optimists, Club 420s and RS Fevas. Assistant Sailing Instructor-In-TrainingNorth Shore Yacht Club, Port Washington, NYThe North Shore Yacht Club, founded in 1871, located in Manhasset Bay, Long Island, is seeking an experienced junior sailor who has outgrown the junior program at their club and who wishes to pass along their love of sailing. The assistant instructor-in-training will have an excellent opportunity to learn from our certified Head Instructor and expand their experience. Candidates should be enthusiastic about working with young sailors of all experience levels, be experienced with Optimists and Picos, and be eager to motivate young sailors while providing a fun and safe environment to learn fundamentals and racing skills. First Aid, CPR, and US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling Certifications are a plus. The position is for full time, Monday-Friday, during four two-week sessions of the season running June 27th through August 20th. Jr. Sailing Program AdministratorCedar Point Yacht Club, Westport CTThis role is responsible for providing administrative support to our Jr. Sailing Program and handling one-on-one communications with Program parents, compiling and sending weekly update to all parents, managing and coordinating regatta registrations/payments/trailering logistics; overseeing and communicating Program calendar and regatta dates, and scheduling summer lessons and clinics outside Jr. Sailing program times. This job will be a great match if you have a gregarious personality to connect with people in our sailing community to encourage them to publish their activities on JSA's social media, website, blog or newsletter, editing material created by others, and creating your own content through reporting, writing and taking pictures/video. You may consider this editor role as a paid internship because former JSA summer editors have received college credit for this work, or have used this job as a springboard to post-college careers in journalism, communications, marketing, digital media and public relations. Director of Sailing InstructionLloyd Neck Bath Club, Huntington NYLloyd Neck Bath Club is seeking an outgoing, self-driven, and organized Director of Sailing Instruction. Our club is located in the entryway to Cold Spring and Oyster Bay harbors, with endless views to the west and north to Connecticut. Sailing InstructorDarien Junior Sailing, Darien CTDarien Junior Sailing is a non-profit educational institute located at beautiful Weed Beach in Darien CT. We’re seeking an instructor for the 2022 season. We offer sailing lessons with guidance from certified instructors. During the past forty years, our program has developed "lifetime" competent sailors who go on to enjoy racing, and cruising in our coastal waters. Our programs run from mid-June to mid-August, with two sessions of three weeks each and one session for two weeks at season's end in August. We offer instruction on the Optimists for 9 to 12-year-olds, two sessions a day, and Club 420 sessions in the afternoon for students with sailing experience. Head Instructor and Sailing InstructorsOrienta Beach Club, Mamaroneck NYOrienta Beach Club in is now hiring Sailing Instructors and a Head Instructor for its 2022 Jr. Sailing Program. The OBC Jr. Sailing Program runs for 7 weeks starting the last week of June and ending mid-August. All positions are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The OBC Jr. Sailing Program offers small student-to-instructor ratios with 30-40 students enrolled each summer. Instructors will report directly into the Head Instructor and are responsible for daily land and on-the-water instruction. The OBC fleet includes Optimists, Fevas and Pixels. Classes include a mix of both adventure sailing and racing instruction. Instructors are responsible for maintaining a safe, encouraging learning environment, ensuring all coaching equipment is ready for class and assisting sailors as they rig and prep for the day. On a case-by-case basis, instructors will also travel locally with students for regattas. Successful applicants will have several years sailing experience in a Junior Program or experience managing a Junior Program, as applicable, and be highly-skilled sailors who are reliable, diligent, and great mentors. Certificates required include US Sailing Level 1 or 2, First Aid, CPR, SafeSport, and Safe Powerboat Handling. OBC will reimburse instructors for certificates required for the 2022 season. Sailing Instructors and CoachesEcho Bay Yacht Club, New Rochelle NYThe Echo Bay Yacht Club (EBYC) Junior Sailing program is a newly affiliated JSA of LIS club seeking talented sailing instructors for the 2022 season. The program has a number of different components that include beginner, recreational, and racing for sailors from age 8 years and up. Instructors will be assigned to specific sailor groups within the junior sailing program based on ability and its specific needs. The EBYC program is 8 weeks long. Additionally, there is a set up and de-rig week which brings the general term of employment to 10 weeks from June 20th to August 26th. Note, there are additional opportunities to work beyond this term and instructors will be compensated accordingly. Typically, the hours are 8:30 am - 4:30 pm, Monday through Friday. There may be some additional responsibilities that require working outside this timeframe on occasion. Pay is reflective of experience and ability. The LYC Junior Sailing Program takes pride in its ability to create lifelong sailors. LYC's junior sailing program is a large and dynamic program of 200 sailors, 25 JIs and 20 coaches. Any given week there will be sailors from LYC competing all over the Long Island Sound and beyond. We host our annual Larchmont Junior Race Week. Our instructors will be able to participate in our V15 Team Racing weekly, as well as our V15 Team Racing events. We are looking for experienced instructors for all areas of our program, and specifically will be hiring coaches in 2022 for these boat types: Laser, Club 420, Feva, Optimist, and Big Boat. About our program: we run Monday - Friday from 8:00 am - 6:00 pm (9:00 am - 12:00 pm all instructors coach beginner Optis, then from 1:00 pm - 5:00 pm we run our advanced sailing program. Sailing Instructors Tokeneke Club, Darien CTThe Tokeneke Club is seeking Sailing Instructors for the 2022 summer season. Tokeneke’s junior sailing program is a well-established, reputable and growing program that provides sailing instruction for junior sailors of varying experiences levels, ranging in age from 8 to 13 years old. Tokeneke offers an intensive 6-week program from late June through early August, comprised of on-the-water training with a fleet of Optimists and Pixels, in conjunction with on-land “chalk talk” instruction. Sailing Instructors Centerport Yacht Club, Centerport NYCenterport Yacht Club (CYC) is seeking sailing instructors for summer 2022. The CYC Junior Sailing program is designed to develop knowledgeable youth sailors and develop a life-long passion for the sport of sailing and an appreciation for the water. This instructional 7-week program is for beginning through advanced juniors, ranging between the ages of 5 to 17. The program offers instruction in Optimist, Laser, Ideal 18, C420 and Feva dinghies. The program enrolls approximately 50 junior sailors, 7-9 instructors, 2-3 junior instructors and parent volunteers. Applicants should have at least one season of prior instructor experience, or the equivalent, and a strong foundation of sailing skills. Instructors are expected to: Work alongside and build rapport with other staff, member volunteers, and Yacht Club leadership to ensure the successful learning of all sailors, foster a love and respect among sailors for the water, each other, and their equipment, be hard working, organized, honest, and be able to give and receive feedback, maintain a proactive mindset and be attentive to a high level of detail in all facets of the workplace, and exercise sound judgment and decision-making, and assess and mitigate risk. Certifications* US Sailing Level 1 Certification (or international equivalent), and boating, boat handling, and boat rescue license. If you are missing any of the above certifications, training may be available at CYC in the spring of 2022. Competitive salary is based on experience. Daily lunch is provided. Housing may be available for long-distance/international instructors.
