Sailing Instructors Tokeneke Club, Darien CTThe Tokeneke Club is seeking Sailing Instructors for the 2022 summer season. Tokeneke’s junior sailing program is a well-established, reputable and growing program that provides sailing instruction for junior sailors of varying experiences levels, ranging in age from 8 to 13 years old. Tokeneke offers an intensive 6-week program from late June through early August, comprised of on-the-water training with a fleet of Optimists and Pixels, in conjunction with on-land “chalk talk” instruction. Successful candidates should have a genuine passion for sailing and instruction, and experience working with junior sailors of all ages and skill levels. Candidates should have great interpersonal skills and be able to teach participants seamanship, sailing theory, and safe boat handling in a fun, safe, and educational environment. Our program is a seven-week program enrolling about 60 children from 5 to 17 years old. We have a Junior Buccaneers program for 5–7-year-olds taking place on both land and sea. We offer opportunities for competitive racing and adventure sailing in Optimists, RS Fevas, Club 420s, and Lasers. We also offer a jr. big boat program and weekly sailing in our fleet of J/22s. Our goal is to instill in our sailors a desire to pursue sailing opportunities throughout Long Island Sound and beyond by introducing them to all aspects of sailing from fun adventure sails to serious racing. All instructors teach Optimists in the morning and Racing Optimists, Fevas, Club 420s, or Lasers in the afternoon. Stipends for regatta attendance and overtime pay are offered. Head Instructor, Head Race Coach and Sailing Instructors Centerport Yacht Club, Centerport NYCenterport Yacht Club (CYC) is seeking Sailing Instructors, a Head Sailing Instructor, and a Head Race Coach for summer 2022. The Junior Sailing Program at CYC fosters an inclusive community for sailors and families, while providing sailors the opportunity to experience racing, adventure sailing, paddling, and other fun activities in the marine environment. We offer half and full summer programs for Optimist, Ideal 18, RS Feva, Laser, and C420 sailors from beginner to advanced skill levels. Our racing teams have historically been competitive at JSALIS events and beyond. Sailing Instructor applicants should have experience-teaching sailors who range in age from 5 - 18 in single and double-handed dinghies. Collegiate level racing and keelboat experience are a plus. Head Sailing Instructor and Head Race Coach applicants should have extensive experience working with sailors of various ages and skill levels. Applicants should be independently motivated self-starters with a keen eye for risk management. Prior management experience is a plus for Head Instructor/Coach. Some travel will be required for the Head Race Coach. Head Instructor and Sailing InstructorsOrienta Beach Club, Mamaroneck NYOrienta Beach Club in is now hiring Sailing Instructors and a Head Instructor for its 2022 Jr. Sailing Program. The OBC Jr. Sailing Program runs for 7 weeks starting the last week of June and ending mid-August. All positions are Monday through Friday, 8 a.m. - 4 p.m. The OBC Jr. Sailing Program offers small student-to-instructor ratios with 30-40 students enrolled each summer. Instructors will report directly into the Head Instructor and are responsible for daily land and on-the-water instruction. The OBC fleet includes Optimists, Fevas and Pixels. Classes include a mix of both adventure sailing and racing instruction. Instructors are responsible for maintaining a safe, encouraging learning environment, ensuring all coaching equipment is ready for class and assisting sailors as they rig and prep for the day. On a case-by-case basis, instructors will also travel locally with students for regattas. Successful applicants will have several years sailing experience in a Junior Program or experience managing a Junior Program, as applicable, and be highly-skilled sailors who are reliable, diligent, and great mentors. Sailing Instructors Huguenot Yacht Club, New Rochelle, NYHuguenot Yacht Club in New Rochelle, NY is seeking Sailing Instructors for the 2022 summer season. Applicants should be experienced, accomplished sailors who sail year-round, for example in LISOT, high school or college teams, and who show a continuing interest in improving their sailing skills at all levels. The mission of our program is to introduce juniors to the sport of sailing, which is not just an isolated skill, but also a way of life that can be enjoyed as a lifelong physical activity. The mission of our big boat program is to introduce the older juniors to big boat sailing, by promoting safety, seamanship, and competition in the day and distance races. The program will have 35-45 Optimist, Laser, and Feva sailors, who range from 8 to 16 years of age; the big boat sailors, ages 14-16, are integral to the dinghy program. We also offer a Jr. Big Boat Program for our older Jr. Sailors. Instructors are responsible for daily land and on the water instruction of a morning and afternoon class. Instructors will create daily and weekly lesson plans that meet the curriculum goals and timelines provided by the Head Coach. Instructors are responsible for maintaining a safe learning environment, ensuring all coaching equipment is ready for classes daily and assisting Jr Sailors as they rig and prep for the day. For Race Teams, Instructors will travel with their team to away regattas and are expected to work to ensure their safety and success while all adhering to the CPYC Code of Conduct both on and off the water. Successful applicants will have several years sailing experience in a Junior Program, be respectful young adults who will serve as great mentors and ambassadors to our sport. College age preferred (18+ years). Certificates required for all include US Sailing Level 1, First Aid, CPR, SafeSport, Safe Powerboat Handling and CT Safe Boating Certificate. CPYC will reimburse first year instructors for certificates acquired for the 2022 season.

We are seeking instructors for our big boat program, Laser and Opti programs. Our youngest sailors (6-8 year of age) in Little Puffs are taught on Ideal 18s in the morning. We have a comprehensive four level Opti program, including Opti racing. Our afternoon session is geared toward the Laser, racing Optis and Adventure sailing. Our Adventure sailing program includes the O'pen Skiff, Hobie Wave, Club 420, Laser, and the Sunfish. We are looking for applicants who have a strong sailing background, with racing experience a plus. We offer a competitive salary with overtime pay and a merit-based bonus, free lunch at our snack bar, cool instructor shirts, swag for returning instructors and your own coach boat.
