RYC's Junior Program is a well-established and respected program providing sailing instruction for beginners through advanced racing sailors ages 6 – 17 yrs. The summer season begins mid-June and runs through mid-August. RYC's training boat ﬂeet consists of Optimists, Club 420s, Laser Radials, Lasers, RS Fevas, Hobie Waves, and Ideal 8s. RYC also offers a highly competitive Junior Big Boat program and has an active race team competing in local JSA regattas. Successful applicants will be experienced sailors, who are motivated, hardworking, reliable, enthusiastic, diligent, energetic, creative, and able to work well with others. They should be great mentors, excellent communicators, have the skills to create and execute effective and fun lesson plans, maintain safe practices, and above all demonstrate a genuine passion for sailing and teaching kids. Previous racing experience is beneficial. College aged preferred (18 yrs+). Wages commensurate with qualifications and experience. |Sailing Instructors and Race Coaches for Summer 2021||Norwalk Yacht Club, Norwalk CT||Norwalk Yacht Club seeks energetic, hard-working and enthusiastic instructors for the 2021 JSA of LIS sailing season starting in mid-June through mid -August for 8 weeks who can inspire our junior sailors and continue to develop their skills. NYC is currently seeking additional sailing instructors including an Optimist Racing Coach, a Feva Racing Coach, a Laser Racing Coach including College sailors who want to focus on racing and instructors to work with beginner and intermediate Optimist sailors as well as an Adventure Sailing program for non-racers. The program offers opportunities for racing and sailors that want to develop well-rounded seamanship skills. Instructors should be interested in working with junior sailors with all experience levels. Strong candidates will have excellent communication skills, as they will be reaching out to parents to discuss upcoming regattas and providing content for our weekly newsletter. The position is full-time with responsibilities Monday to Friday for the 2021 Summer season. Applicants must have a minimum of US Sailing Small Boat Level 1 Instructor, Safe Powerboat Handling, CPR and First Aid Training. Second year instructors are expected to have the minimum requirements, but are encouraged to take further Level 2 training. SCYC provides a dynamic junior sailing program for beginner and advanced sailors ranging in age from 8-16. Boats include Optimist, Laser, RS Feva and Club 420. Positions are salaried, full-time for 8 weeks beginning mid-June ending mid-August. |
- The Program Director will have strong leadership and management skills, a passion for sailing, and significant experience working with children. Responsibilities include: Manage the program in accordance with best practices; Design and coordinate appropriate and engaging activities for the junior sailors when they are not able to be on the water; Communicate with parents on a regular basis; Train, schedule, supervise and evaluate instructional staff; Implement a quality assurance/safety program to assure best practices in vessel operation, instruction and safety; Monitor and maintain all jr sailing club owned vessels and equipment; Work closely with Jr Sailing chairs on program preparation and on going operations; Have proper certifications such as US Sailing Level 3 Head Instructor or higher, US Powerboating Safe Powerboat Handling, CPR/First Aid.
- Sailing Instructors will have solid personal sailing experiences and have a strong patience and desire to share their experience with young sailors. Instructors participate in regattas as needed along the Long Island Sound. Sailing Instructors must have a minimum Level 1 Sailing Instructor Certification, SCYC sponsor and may require Level II dependent on the instructor's role. A US Powerboat Safe Handling Certification along with current First Aid and CPR will also be required at the beginning of the season. Salaries are competitive and lunch is provided.

Instructors work with a team of 8 US Sailing certified instructors under the guidance of a Head Instructor and a Program Director. Founded in 1887, CPYC is located on the Long Island Sound in Westport, CT. We are a club made up of volunteers committed to the sport of sailing. The mission of CPYC’s Junior Sailing Program is to introduce Jr. Sailors to the joy of sailing and the thrill of sailboat racing. All classes focus on basic boat handling, seamanship, and sportsmanship; while building racing performance and tactical skills. We strive to develop teamwork, individual initiative, responsibility, and environmental stewardship. |
CPYC runs an eight-week summer program from mid-June to mid-August with approximately 95 junior sailors. We sail and race Optimist, Feva, Club 420, Laser Radial, and Laser Standard. We also offer a Jr. Big Boat Program for our older sailors. CPYC hosts several Jr. Regatta’s throughout the season. All Jr. Sailing staff attend a paid one-week training session prior to the start of the 8-week program. Compensation is competitive, we pay overtime, weather days, and provide the option to do private lessons for additional income.

|Sailing Instructors & Coaches for 2021||Black Rock Yacht Club, Black Rock CT||Black Rock YC is currently seeking additional sailing instructors/coaches for the 2021 summer season (next summer). Our goal is for our children to truly have fun when sailing and thus develop a life-long love of sailing and life-long friendships. We offer both high quality racing instruction and also offer a fun “adventure” track. BRYC also offers tennis, swimming and diving for juniors (so not everyone is focused on sailboat racing). Our “Salty Dog” program beginning at age 5 have also been a huge success as a “pre-Opti” prep. We also offer a hybrid “Salty Opti” class for 6-7 year old beginners for a total of five levels of Opti classes. Applicants who sail in high school or college and who have strong USODA Optimist, Club 420 or Laser racing backgrounds are preferred.
