Stamford Yacht Club is accepting applications from qualified candidates for the position of Junior Sailing Optimist Racing Coach. Our program has learn to sail, recreational sailing and regatta training classes in Optimist, C420 and Laser and Laser Radial classes for approximately 100 children ranging from 6 to 17 years of age. We are looking for an energetic, motivated Optimist coach who will create a fun and dynamic summer experience for all our racing sailors, both on and off the water. Job requirements include a passion for all kinds of sailing; experience coaching racing sailors; a concern for safety and respect for the water; a maturity and professionalism to work with fellow instructors, staff, parents and sailors of all ages; an ability to communicate with sailors, their parents, supervisors and club management; and US Sailing Level 1, 2 or 3 certification, safe powerboat handling skills, and First Aid and CPR certifications required by US Sailing (first year instructors intending to complete Level 1 training prior to June 2015 will be considered). Compensation is competitive, based on experience and skill.
