Sailing Instructor for Day Camp
Sailing instructor for the on-land sailing program of Camp Seagull, the day camp at the Larchmont Yacht club. Based on a three day a week schedule for campers ages 4-9, instructor must meet these objectives in a six week sailing curriculum: Teach basic sailing principles to campers, upwind, downwind, tacking, jibing, Wind, Boat parts, sails and types of boats, Basic knots including but not limited to figure 8, cleat, half hitch and bowline, Basic lifejacket and safety principles, Organize and supervise capsizing and righting of boat in the pool, Accompany certified skippers during Ideal 18 rides, Responsible for the maintenance and upkeep of Optimists, knot boards and all other sailing related equipment and supplies; Maintain an inventory of sailing supplies and their condition, Assure that camp counselors are actively involve in sailing class; Follow the chain of command for any emergency.
